I started off as a lawyer, it was not very creative or exciting, but I always had an interest in finance and value investing. The initial goal was to set up an equity brokerage business selling European equity. Realizing that public equity investors were driven by what research sell-side analysts told them, I immediately thought that this would be a fantastic opportunity to apply in the inefficient European market.


The opportunity set is everywhere, particularly in continental Europe because it is such a complex area.


Whenever you see complexity, there is confusion and anomalies. People are scared to get involved. It's challenging but also provides opportunities.”
